Misanthropic with a marshmallow centre. I have worked at universities and newspapers for around ten years: as a book reviewer for the Cape Times (2010-2014), entertainment reporter for the Cape Argus (2011, 2012) , and film critic for the Sunday Times (2014-2016). I have taught literature, philosophy, African history and, in the most laughable episode in my mercenary career in scholarship, “decolonial studies” (I’ll tell you about it sometime over something sippish and relatively golden in hue). Here I collect all my new writing in (principally, South African) culture (2019-) and a sample selection of my film writing from the Sunday Times can be found under the “archive” tab.
